My wife traded in her '09 Infiniti G37S coupe for a 2014 Accord EX-L sedan. Other cars tested were the Passat TDi and Fusion. She told me to narrow her choices down to 3 and she would pick from there... I have to say that I would have made the same choice. I really wanted to like the Passat but the interior of the Accord felt more comfortable and advanced by a country mile.

Current garage is: '05 Corvette Z51; 2013 Forester; 2014 Accord

Too bad about the Passat TDI. Do you know what trim level you looked at? The S is pretty spartan, SE adds some goodies, and SEL is downright cushy. Of course, by the time you reach SEL, you're over $30K.

I probably would have made the same decision. I have a grudge against the Passat TDi (probably unfairly so) because it requires AdBlue when it's still only got the 2.0. But if compared with the 1.8T, it might have been a fairer fight.

We drove the SEL premium... fully decked. I won't lie, the tech in the Accord is what won her over.

Yep, basically. Didn't feel like messing with Craigslist and they offered what we had in mind ahead of time.

$16,500. It's got just under 70k miles.

It's a great all-around choice... not great at anything but good at everything, like Mario in Mario Kart.

I've noticed the same, interior is not as roomier as it should to fully compete in that segment. Looks nice from the outside but there's a trade-off...

And what what about the holy grail of jalopness, the car that there's no reason to not buy ?

It was great. No issues in the 3+ years she owned it. It just wasn't very functional any more. TINY back seat and no trunk to speak of...

It's my mom's DD and while she likes the power she doesn't like the choppy delivery or the ride quality. My dad likes it well enough, but that's because he can flick it into sport mode and pretend to shift. They're looking at trading it in for an A7 or S7 in the next year or so, or she may get an F-Type.

The coupe definitely had a bit of a hard ride but hot damn that thing jumps like a stabbed rat when you get on it. Never really cared for the 3.7's exhaust note though.

I really hate the exhaust note on Nissan's V6 engines. She did note that my E46 coupe rode a lot nicer than the G37 (I agree that it does too). It's a fast and nimble luxury car but it's not too refined.

Or the iphone. It's the iphone of cars. Everything it does, something else does better, but no other single package is as consistently above average.

Adblue only has to be filled every 10,000. Not that big a deal. I know a lot of modern diesels require it. 2014 Dmax is another.

Doesn't make it any more digestible in my opinion. You know why that is? Do you know what happens to VWs if you run out of AdBlue? They won't start. They. Wont. Frickin. Start.
